RECENT
HEADLINES…AND OTHER STUFF.
Recently there
was a really unappreciated occurrence at the University
of California at Irvine.
Someone, and I don’t know who exactly, complained about flying the flag
of the United States. Really?
Really! Who are these people
that can take umbrage about flying the flag that represents the country in
which they live? The country which, as
a matter of fact, guarantees them the right to speak out about the flag, even
to the point of burning it…but not flying it sounds to me like it’s just plain
wrong. In what parallel universe are
they living, where countless men and women have died to give them the rights
that they scorn? Whoever you are,
listen up…you have the right, paid for in blood, to say things, do things, that
are against the government…you also have the obligation to back up what you say
and do, and you may encounter some other people that have opposite views from
yours. When that happens, be prepared
to either put up or shut up…and I’d really like to be there when that
happens. It should be very
interesting. In my youth we stood up in
school and pledged allegiance to that flag, and to the republic for which it
stands, and whether you utter the words “under God” or not, that’s a personal
choice. If you cannot pledge your
allegiance, my words are simply these…love it or leave it. You think there’s a better country somewhere
else, by all means go there…but don’t come back because we don’t need any
sniveling, whiney, foolish imitation Americans. Teddy Roosevelt said it “We can have no
'50-50' allegiance in this country. Either a man is an American and nothing
else, or he is not an American at all.”
According to TV commercials,
which the postal service themselves put out, they are losing 5 billion dollars
a year. I’m not a bit surprised. With the exception of one man in one postal
center, and one man on a route, everyone else with whom I’ve had dealings, has
been nonchalant about their job, and that’s putting it mildly. When I was a boy the man that delivered our
mail was pretty much on time, give or take 20 minutes, and he was friendly, and
we knew his name. Now, my mail delivery
can take place, if I get any at all, anywhere from about 9 in the morning to 8
at night, and the people change all the time.
Even allowing for inflation, the price of a first-class letter is way
over what it should be, when you factor in the service that you’re getting. Penny postcards went the way of the
buggywhip, and the automation doesn’t seem to have been perfected…at least in
my case. I sent a birthday card to
someone in the same city and it took 5 days to get there! Pony Express crossed the bulk of the United States
in that same amount of time, over 100 years ago. If it wasn’t for the fact that first-class
mail is mandated to be delivered by the US Postal Service they might as well be
shutting down…and maybe it’s time to privatize the whole thing. Ben Franklin’s Post Office was good, in its
day, but I think that day has passed.
Competence has given way to
cool…at least that’s the way I see it as we wind down this imposter-in-chief’s
time in the White House. His first
election was a social experiment, and it has failed miserably. If it wasn’t for voter fraud in the second
election, I don’t think he would have defeated Romney. Now, if Romney had won, it’s a pretty good
guess that we wouldn’t be in the ghastly situation that we’re in now. We are no longer feared because we don’t
back up what we say we’re going to do, and that’s being couple with announced
endings of wars, complete with the drawdown of the armed forces. Our country, and the government itself, is
being infiltrated with people that are sympathetic to the idea of the downfall
of the United States…and
Mr. Cool is importing them by the thousands.
Illegal aliens are being given documents that are taken at face value as
being genuine and they became virtual citizens, and as such will be voting in
all elections from city to presidential…and guess for whom they will be
voting? The Democrat party because
that’s who got them their virtual citizenship, and they will remember
that. Couple that with a declining
birth rate in certain demographics, while other demographics are popping them
out like Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn.
Dearborn, Michigan,
which now has a majority population of Muslims, can logically be called
Dearbornistan, and the state is not going to be far behind when the takeover
happens.
Thomas Jefferson, probably one
of the great visionaries ever, had a grasp of things that most people back then
never even thought about. “The tree of
liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and
tyrants.” Wake up America…it’s
time for some action.
